Congrats on making Time For Art! First things first, in this lesson we will share the goals of this class.
Module 2: Drawing Lesson Video
We draw the bowling pins and ball, render in light and shadow, and learn realistic drawing practices.
Module 3: Painting Lesson Video 1
We transfer the bowling pins from the provided outline, and paint a loose water wash of the pins, ball, surrounding elements and the background, then we allow the painting to dry.
Module 4: Painting Lesson Video 2
We paint the details of the reflections, the specifics in the striping of the pins, and lighting on the floor surface. We render the highlights and shadows to complete the painting.
Module 5: Bonus & Next Steps
- Individuals who already have some painting and drawing skills and want to explore more complex techniques
- This class is designed to help students gain confidence in their abilities as an artist

Meet Your Instructor
Allison is a lifelong studio artist and designer who resides in Chicago, Illinois. She has produced and sold her work in Chicago area art fairs and galleries nationwide. Most recently, she was one of the awarded artists in the national juried exhibition at the Tubac Center of the Arts in Tubac, Arizona. Allison has her BFA in Studio Art from Miami University, Oxford, OH.

What’s the difference between Beginner and Intermediate?
Beginner classes are tailored for those with minimal art experience. If you're new to painting, our Beginner box is perfect. If you want to progress or challenge yourself, opt for Intermediate. Intermediate classes move quicker, completing two paintings and four drawings in four weeks, while Beginners focus on one in a month.
What ages are these classes for?
The Beginner and Intermediate classes are for ages 11 and up, classes usually run 45-60 minutes weekly. The Jr. Homeschool Class runs 30 minutes and is for 2nd-4th grade. The regular Homeschool Class runs 40 minutes and is for 5th grade and up. When selecting a class, please take into account that some classes may involve the use of acrylic paint, which is non-washable.
Can I pick and choose what artwork I get to make?
Each month, we concentrate on a specific painting due to live instruction and nationwide participation. Yet, you're free to explore your creativity! Our instructors assist with techniques, but you're not bound to replicate the painting. Mixing it up is encouraged.
Do the classes build?
They progress each month but not sequentially. You can join anytime without missing out.
